Calgary pair arrested after breaking into oil lease site near Drumheller: RCMP

A man and a woman from Calgary are facing charges after allegedly breaking into a oil lease site near Drumheller on Tuesday.

The RCMP say officers were called to a site in Kneehill County west of Drumheller for reports of two suspects loading items into a minivan.

The suspects left the site while officers were on the way but police managed to find and stop the van on Highway 575 near Range Road 212A.

Officers searched the green Mazda van and RCMP say the found a large amount of suspected stolen copper wire, tools, fuel and more. Police also learned both suspects were wanted on outstanding warrants.

The two suspects were arrested and taken into custody.

Police say 38-year-old Sarah Doumont and 48-year-old Ryan Watson were arrested and face several charges for breaking and entering, breaching conditions and outstanding warrants.

The pair remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in a Calgary courtroom in the coming days.
