Boy hit by a car suffers ‘life-altering’ injuries in southwest Calgary

A 12-year-old boy was taken to hospital with “life-altering” injuries after he was struck by a car Friday, Calgary police say.

Investigators say it happened at the intersection of Belmont Drive S.W. and 210th Avenue at about 7:40 a.m.

The boy was crossing an unmarked intersection when he was hit by a red 2020 Toyota Corolla driven by a woman in her 30s. She was travelling west along 210th Avenue S.W.

Officers say the boy remains in hospital in stable condition, while the woman and a passenger in the Toyota were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Speed, alcohol or drugs are not considered to be factors in the collision, police say.

Investigators say anyone with information or dashcam footage of the collision should come forward.
