Whether they know it yet or not, someone in Canada will soon claim a life-changing amount of money after a massive lottery win.
The Lotto Max draw took place on Tuesday, December 10, and the jackpot was worth $40 million. The winning numbers were 03, 06, 22, 30, 32, 40, 46, and bonus number 19. One lottery ticket matched all seven winning numbers to win the top prize. According to OLG, the winning ticket was sold in Ontario.
“Check your Lotto Max tickets, Ontario!” reads a release. “The $40 million Lotto Max jackpot-winning ticket from last night’s draw was sold in Wellington County!”
According to PlayNow, it was also a lucky draw for several Ontario lottery players.
After matching six of the winning numbers and the bonus number, two people will split the second prize. Soon, they’ll each receive a cheque for $90,777.60.

The third prize will be split between 36 people, and each winner will receive $5,043.20 after matching six of the seven winning numbers.
The Lotto Max Extra winning numbers were 15, 59, 70, and 77, but no one in BC won the $500,000 prize. Similarly, no one in Ontario matched the Encore number 5310295 to win the $1 million prize. However, two people won the second prize and will each receive $100,000. Those tickets were sold in Barrie and Hamilton.
The last time someone won the jackpot was during the December 3 draw when two winning tickets split the $80 million prize. One ticket was sold in Western Canada, while the other was sold in Quebec.
One of the winners recently came forward to claim his $40 million prize. Montreal resident Jean Lamontagne said he was at work when he checked his ticket and discovered he’d won a staggering $40 million.
The 60-year-old didn’t waste time sharing the news with his bosses first, adding that he’d take advantage of the Lotto Max windfall to retire earlier than planned. Read the full story here.
