Nearly a dozen homes were evacuated Friday morning after people reported the smell of natural gas in the southeast neighbourhood of Sundance, along Sunvalley Drive.
“There’s been nothing detected in the houses, but we’re evacuating a few houses just to be safe,” Acting Battalion Chief Shaun Leonard told 660 NewsRadio.
ATCO is on the scene investigating, and fire crews have been there since 5 a.m.
Leonard says it’s possible more homes could be evacuated.
EMS tells 660 NewsRadio no patients have been taken to hospital as a result of this incident.
Some roads in the area are also closed as crews investigate.
This is a developing story.
