Gringo Street, a well-known spot for tacos and Latin American fare in Calgary, has announced it will be closing its doors.
In an Instagram post, the restaurant said it would be closing its location at #101 524 17th Avenue SW “until further notice.”
“These past five years have been filled with unforgettable memories, and we are endlessly grateful for your love and support,” the post read.
The extremely recognizable restaurant built in a bright yellow shipping container has been a staple for tacos and snacks on 17th Avenue.
Gringo Street offered dozens of dishes taking inspiration from Uruguay, Colombia, Panama and more, with plates and shareables such as skewers, tacos, queso fundido, and ceviche.
While we’re sad to see it close, there may be some hope for the future. The restaurant hinted that it may reopen under new ownership in 2025, so watch this space.
