The chilly temperatures that has gripped Calgary will be over soon, and the warmup on the way for the city will likely melt a serious amount of snow.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Calgary is set to experience a hefty temperature swing, going from a daytime high of -11°C on Sunday to a daytime high of 10°C on Thursday.
The city will see heavy cloud cover today and a mix of sun and cloud tomorrow, along with a steady hold in daytime highs, with a high of -8ºC in the forecast for today and -11°C on Sunday.
The overnight lows are where it gets really cold, ranging between -21°C and -12°C from tonight to Sunday.
Monday things sure start to turn around for us, with a daytime high of 4ºC and sunny.
The temperatures sure take a massive jump as we roll through the upcoming workweek, with Tuesday eyeing up a lovely daytime high of 9ºC. Wednesday is looking good as well, with a high of 3ºC, and Thursday and Friday are really bringing it with daytime highs of 10°C and 9°C, respectively.
Another nice thing to see in the forecast over the coming days — no mention of snow on the way!
When you do the math between the overnight low on Saturday and the daytime high on Thursday, that’s a difference of 31 Celsius degrees over just a few days.
According to ECCC, the normal temperatures for Calgary at this time of year are a high of zero and a low of -12ºC.
