“You got me”: TikTok on stereotypical looks for Calgary neighbourhoods sparks reaction

Styles can vary depending on the area people live in, and one local decided to document what people look like based on which Calgary neighbourhood they live in.

In a TikTok video, the user @aliya.abdallah went through nine neighbourhoods in Calgary and posted photos of what people living in those areas look like. It soon gained tens of thousands of views, with people commenting about how accurate the depictions were to them.

The neighbourhoods included in the videos are Varsity, Tuscany, Rundle, McKenzie Towne, Lake Bonavista, Forest Lawn, Currie Barracks, Chaparral, and Bridgeland. Boy, did she go in.

One comparison that received a lot of attention was McKenzie Towne, which showed a picture of a woman drinking red wine.

“Me sitting in Mckenzie Towne drinking a glass of red wine watching this,” one person wrote.

“I just moved from McKenzie Towne…yep you got me,” another person laughed.

Another area of note was Forest Lawn, which had a photo of cast members from the mockumentary TV sitcom Trailer Park Boys.

“Dying over forest lawn,” one commenter wrote.

“Ouch. I’m offended by the accuracy… especially considering I live in a trailer in FL and my old neighbour did a deadass accurate Bubbles impression,” another person said.
