Woman went bowling after finding out she won $1 million in the lottery

What would you do the moment you found out you won the lottery? One woman shared the news with her husband and headed straight for the bowling alley.

Micheline Heppell Côté lives in the Montérégie region of Quebec with her husband, Normand. The couple have been playing the lottery together for years, often choosing a combination of numbers drawn from 1 to 49.

As is their tradition, Micheline is in charge of buying their ticket, so in October, she purchased a Lotto 6/49 ticket when the Gold Ball prize was worth $14 million.

Micheline had an upcoming bowling match but decided to stop at a retailer to check their ticket. She recalled how the attendant’s eyes grew wider before breaking the news to her: she had just won the lottery.

Micheline discovered that they had managed to match the White Ball winning number 70886554-01 in the October Lotto 6/49 draw — they were now $1 million richer.

Unfazed, she headed home to tell Normand the news, and the couple then kept the ticket in a safe place. Winning the lottery can be emotional, but Micheline remained unfazed. She headed to the bowling alley as planned and actually nailed her game, probably inspired by the excitement of such a big win.

While at the Loto-Québec headquarters to pick up their cheque, the generous couple said they won’t be the only ones enjoying their good fortune — they’ll be using their windfall to spoil their loved ones.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Promenades Montarville Jean Coutu pharmacy in Boucherville. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
