Age may not have been the only reason Mike Tyson looked rather slow in the ring versus Jake Paul last night.
Though Paul was able to win the fight by unanimous decision, many have taken aim at him for going up against the 58-year-old Tyson. After all, the fight had already been postponed after the longtime legendary boxer suffered a medical issue months ago. Now, thanks to Tyson himself, we have learned just how serious of an issue it was.
“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” Tyson wrote on X. “I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in the ring one last time.
“I almost died in June. Had eight blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won. To have my eight children see me stand toe to toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”

Knowing just how severe Tyson’s medical issue was calls into question why, or how this fight even took place. Thankfully, despite looking like a shadow of his old-dominant self, Tyson was able to get out of the match unscathed, and at the very least seemed to enjoy being able to get back in the ring one last time.
This latest update from Tyson is likely to result in even more criticism towards Paul, who, despite being a talented boxer, has yet to go up against an opponent most feel is a legitimate threat. That may change in his next bout, however, as there some that believe a fight could be coming Canelo Alvarez.
