Detached homes are the most expensive in these 10 Calgary neighbourhoods

If you’re planning on house shopping in Calgary, new data has revealed the most expensive neighbourhoods in which to buy a detached home.

According to data provided to Daily Hive by Wahi, the online real estate platform rounded up the 10 most expensive neighbourhoods in Calgary to buy a detached home in from the first three quarters of this year, from January to September.

Looking at where you need to have some serious cash in the bank to buy a detached home, it’s heavily centered in YYC’s southwest quadrant. Nine out of the top 10 communities are there, with just the Beltline community in southwest/southeast Calgary.

The top 10 most expensive neighbourhoods for detached homes from January to September 2024, excluding anything fewer than five sales, were as follows:

  • #10. Aspen Woods, with a median sold price of $1,395,000
  • #9. Currie Barracks, with a median sold price of $1,450,000
  • #8. Bayview, with a median sold price of $1,510,000
  • #7. Mayfair, with a median sold price of $1,650,000
  • #6. Lower Mount Royal, with a median sold price of $1,699,900
  • #5. Roxboro, with a median sold price of $1,800,000
  • #4. Upper Mount Royal, with a median sold price of $1,915,444
  • #3 Elbow Park, with a median sold price of $2,045,000
  • #2. Britannia, with a median sold price of $2,300,000
  • #1 Beltline, with a median sold price of $2,750,000

Elbow Park also boasted the most sales this year, with 45 properties sold. Mayfair and Beltline tied for the lowest, with just five properties sold, Wahi reported.

Wahi says it sourced its data from the Calgary Real Estate Board and compared the differences between the median list and median sold prices for neighbourhoods with five or more sales to determine the most and least expensive neighbourhoods for all property types, condos, detached, semi-detached and townhomes. It excluded those neighbourhoods with fewer than five transactions over the nine-month period.
