CTrains not running downtown after pedestrian struck by train

All CTrain station in downtown Calgary are being shut down after a pedestrian was hit by a train on Tuesday evening.

Police tell CityNews a person was hit by a train near City Hall station at 7 Avenue SE and 3 Street SE around 5:30 p.m.

Images from the scene suggest the person was hit by a Red Line train that was travelling northbound from Victoria Park/Stampede station and coming out of the tunnel near the Central Library.

Emergency crews are on scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Calgary Transit says all stations along 7 Avenue are closed and shuttle buses will run in their place.

Riders trying to use downtown stations are being asked to make their way to 6 Avenue and 9 Avenue during the closure. People travelling from Victoria Park/Stampede are being asked to catch buses at northbound Macleod Trail and 17 Avenue.

Delays are expected along both the Red and Blue lines.
