Oilers’ McDavid admits that he is a big fan of Flames jerseys

It should be no secret that Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid harbours a deep hatred for his rival Calgary Flames, but he doesn’t hate everything about them.

Sports on Prime Canada recently released a promo on social media that saw them asking multiple NHL players to say something nice about their rivals. Leon Draisaitl and McDavid were involved in the promo, and each was asked to say something flattering about the Flames.

Draisaitl looked visibly confused about what to say before complimenting Calgary’s future arena, but McDavid had a much quicker answer regarding the team’s choice of jerseys.

“I like their jerseys, they got nice jerseys,” McDavid said after laughing.

It may seem like blasphemy to hear McDavid say anything nice about the Flames, but it is one that not a lot of fans (even Oilers fans) can fault him for. Say what you want about the team as a whole, they do have one of the nicest sets of jerseys in the entire league.

That has been the case ever since the team decided to return to the retro set they initially wore in the 1980s. That iconic flaming C logo on a red, white, and yellow jersey is undeniably sharp, both for the home and away.

That isn’t even mentioning the team’s slick blasty alternate.

Of course, the Oilers also have a pair of iconic jerseys that too rank near the top of the league on most lists, making the Battle of Alberta one of the best-looking rivalries in the NHL.

While it was certainly nice to see McDavid throw a little bit of love towards the Flames this one time, Oilers fans will likely want to see him withhold those niceties when the two play against each other.
