If you’re looking for a place to pay your respects this Remembrance Day in Calgary, there are many ways to honour it all around the city.
You can choose an event that feels like a meaningful way to participate in this year’s memorial activities with this list of ceremonies going on in YYC.
This Remembrance Day, CPKC will remember those who have served on both sides of the border with a moment of silence at 11 am, followed by a train whistle at 11:02 am local time, when it’s safe to do so. Flags on CPKC property in Canada will be lowered to half-mast in honour of their service.

The Hangar Flight Museum will host its annual Remembrance Day Ceremony at the helicopter landing area behind the museum, which was once used as a parade square during the Second World War. The museum will also be open to the public following the service with admission by donation.

Every year, 3,000 white crosses take over a park alongside Memorial Drive for Remembrance Day between November 1 and 11. Each cross is inscribed with the name, rank, regiment, date of death and age at death of a Southern Alberta soldier killed in action. On November 10, lanterns will be placed in front of each cross and burn from sunset to sunrise. A televised Remembrance Day ceremony is held at the field at 10:10 am on November 11, and parking is very restricted in the parking lot adjacent to the field this day.

Calgarians can visit the Military Museums for their annual Remembrance Day Ceremony. For a full itinerary of the morning, visit the event page here. The public will be invited to lay a wreath at the Eternal Flame Monument after the ceremony. The museum will also be open to the public following the service with admission by donation.

On November 11, observe Remembrance Day at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The special service commences at 10:40 am and features Central Alberta Chamber Players, world-class bagpiper Bill Hawes, and singer-songwriter Tim Isberg. Veterans and active service members will receive free Studio Bell admission on Remembrance Day. Admission must be purchased in person at the Visitor Experience desk.

All are invited to join the community in “honouring and remembering Canada’s veterans.” Doors open at 9 am with general seating.

Royal Canadian Legion Branches host Remembrance Day ceremonies in communities across the country and abroad, with many in Calgary holding a ceremony to attend on November 11.
