Letters, Nov. 2, 2024: ‘Federal politics fast becoming a circus’

Article content

We are approaching what could be one of the craziest moments in Canadian political history. Very shortly we can expect the Bloc Québécois Non-Confidence motion against the government. It is no surprise Conservatives will vote against this failing government, but the moment we will step into the Twilight Zone, is when Liberal backbenchers vote against Justin Trudeau to bring down the government and the NDP is the “only” party in Canada that is voting unanimously to keep Justin Trudeau and the Liberal government (even when NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh recently held a press conference “promising” Canadians to withdraw all NDP support). So get your popcorn and get ready for the Looney Tunes! Only in Canada…

(Not only in Canada. Things are looking pretty looney south of the border as well these days.)

Someone else’s fault

PM Trudeau’s refusal to hand over the documents pertaining to the misuse of taxpayers’ money at Sustainable Development Technology Canada has lead to a frozen parliament. I suspect PM Trudeau will prorogue parliament and blame the Conservatives. It’ll be par for the course with Justin Trudeau. He never takes responsibility and always blames someone else.

JEFFREY ANDERSON

(Taking responsibility is a bridge too far for our PM.)

Sack the bags

Brian Lilley wrote about cloth grocery bags. I regularly use Instacart as I do not own a vehicle and am 70 years old with several health issues. I have hundreds of them! What I truly don’t understand is why the supermarkets are using cloth instead of BPA free recyclable green bags? This situation is so dumb!

Slow-moving process

They blew up the Tropicana hotel in Las Vegas to huge fanfare. Apparently they’re making way for a new baseball stadium for a team that actually hasn’t moved there yet. Here in Calgary, we debate for what seems like decades to get a new hockey arena for our existing team. Our football team plays in the oldest stadium in the league and really is in need of a new one. It could even be built on the existing site for criminy sake. I guess getting new, modern stuff really comes down to when the grownups get involved. Haven’t seen much proof of maturity from our city councils in the past few decades.

(Getting council involved can only make things worse.)
